Selfish emo bitch that I am (but still not Sam). I guess this is where it's all about me! Don't say you weren't warned
For the random person (“Danger, Will Robinson!”) who clicked on this link by accident, this is some filler babble inserted to avoid the dreaded nothingness of a tabula rasa. Just let your eyes glaze over and move on. I’m not insulted.
“Ma, Ma, they won’t play with me!"
[Sound of shotgun being cocked/buffed & waxed off-screen]
(Or whatever they do with the darned things. I’m not American, why would I know this?)
“You’ll play with little Mary-Sue, and you’ll like it!”
But, seriously, folks. I know myself, and even I’m not that into me!
Moving right along…
If it wasn’t already obvious with the blatant plagiaristic homage of my title, I like Ray Bradbury and Shakespeare. Apart from that, citrus tart and coffee would be high on my list. Let’s see, what else? C.J. Cherryh, Jane Austen, and dancing in a deluge without an umbrella. Tolkien, Oscar Wilde, and lightning storms. Gordon R. Dickson, Angela Carter, and lemon tarts. Global bookshops, libraries (except the one I’m indentured to), and tiny second-hand bookshops. Diana Wynne Jones, Raymond Carver, and foggy days. Joseph Campbell, art galleries, and Margaret Mahy. Patrick Leigh Fermor, and Lake Louise in the snow. Lois McMaster Bujold, Firefly, and lemon/lime tarts. Elizabeth Peters, Chekhov, and walks in the pouring rain. Robert Frost, Connie Willis and passionfruit tarts. Did I mention rain? And citrus tarts? Which part of “bookish” did you not understand? Heh. World peace, I’ll leave to its own devices (though I’ll picket if you’re desperate). I don’t think I’d be much help, particularly after a bad day cataloguing the universe.
I’ve been on the sidelines of fandom (I hate that word, I’m not a fanatic, I’m just focussed) since … hmmm … before Blake’s 7 (and that just dated me). However, it wasn’t till Forever Knight and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues that I actually made the leap into online fanfic. My apologies to the universe for jumping into the internet lake, but it looked so pretty! And fun, and really wet. Sadly, Colin Firth never jumped into the lake with me. So, a little disappointment all around. Real life is just not as much fun as one’s imagination.
Unfortunately, after that there was a huge period where I just got to watch everyone else play. No, you just go ahead and enjoy yourselves. Don’t worry about me. Work + life = big black hole. Being locked up in an institution for years (even one of higher learning) will do that to you.
Luckily Supernatural came along and for the first time in years there was a show with enough angst, family trauma and outright character disintegration (not to mention the ROCK!) that I couldn’t help but be sucked right back in. Therefore, while there are a few other shows out there that I adore (Dr House – you’re a legend. Insult me. You know I like it), SPN is the one I’m creatively faithful to. Sue me; I’m a slut for psychological torment. Don’t like SPN? Ces’t ne pas possible. Or as Dean would ask, “Dude, what’s your problem?” Fly be free! (Cinq pouf!) Of course, you’d be missing out on acres of prime-time torment, and who’d ever want to do that? So stay awhile and relish the Kripke side of the force.

No apologies for the unashamed English spelling. This is my sandpit, after all.
